At Forever Walers, we pride ourselves on our quiet, safe horses, our presentation, and our sportsmanship. Our greatest thrill is seeing other Waler horses out at events, with everybody promoting our heritage breed to the best of their abilities. Performing competitively in open classes is a bonus!
Our South-Eastern NSW Waler-showing fraternity is a really friendly, supportive group of like-minded people who love to catch up for a chat, check out each others beautiful Walers, and cheer each other on. If you would like to give Waler showing a go but aren't sure where to start, we are more than happy to offer help!
What we love most about our Walers is their reliability and adaptability. It isn't unusual for Trooper to do a lovely hunter workout, then line up for the sporting events, fly around a few novelty races, then hurry off to a riding class and walk into the ring, perfectly calm and composed, ready to impress the judge. Or to do a hack show one day, and follow up with a team penning event the next!
Most of our riding time is spent trail riding around the region, mustering cattle, or going on beach rides, with a couple of flatwork sessions mixed in each week when in training for an event. We find this style of life creates a happy, relaxed horse that wants to be your friend and loves their job! Riding shouldn't be a chore... It's something to be enjoyed!
